I really don't remember what the formula was, but it got me started in the making of bubbles of all shapes. I probably used either Dawn detergent or Joy. Both are from Proctor and Gamble Mfg. Other ingredients could have been Karo Syrup, Glycerin and something other...

Bubbles were pretty good for a time at parties, then the solution changed, not by me, by Proctor and Gamble, unknown to me. Ugh. Bubbles popped sooner and didn't stretch well. This was so annoying that I couldn't figure out what happened.

I probably started buying spring or distilled water, but it didn't make the difference.

Ever tried problem-solving bubbles? Ha!

Inside that book was a bubble formula Yay!!!

So what does a bubbleman do when his main element isn't working consistently...when his stage shows becomes frustrating rather a joy?

Wish I remembered what I did, I'm guessing I switched to Liquid Joy detergent for a while. Maybe it helped, but not to the point of satisfaction.

Above is a very early show bubble with a school principal in a bubble. Looks cool right? Well, at the moment of this trick, I'm thinking, "Boy, I hope this works!"

Here's one of the first bubble pictures taken by my wife Debbie at our church. I was wearing probably a super green pair of overalls. Ha! The bow tie was a neon green too.

I managed to perform for all kinds of people and venues until I had a break in the business, for health reasons. When I returned to the life of a bubble performer I called the bubble man who I first saw perform in Utica, NY....Doug Rougeux, Bubblemania!

Doug and I talked about the bubble solution and what he used. He purchased a solution for his many small bubble tricks. I still wanted to make my own original formula though.

The next information he shared changed my life... there is a website where many professional performers, bubblers, that talk about and share their experiences in making bubble wands to a perfect bubble solution. WOW!!

Guar Gum was fantastic with the formula. Many swore by it and so did I until one day I was researching more on bubbles. Why not find alternatives to Guar Gum? Can I improve the formula? Somedays the solution still had issues...to my disappointment.

I contacted a new bubble friend from Switzerland named Aramis. He shared with me that he used a wall paper glue. What? What? His bubbles were amazing though. So I bought, through ebay, the German product.

Mixing that wasn't as simply as you might think. I had to mix it in a proper proportion to my 4-5 gallons. It worked but not like I wanted.

I continued to search .......

That's when I found Sodium Carboxymethyl Cellulose (Na-CMC) or just CMC. It's quite similar to Guar Gum, that it too was used in foods! What da ya know!

Common Uses:

Food industry: thickener, stabilizer (ice cream, sauces, dressings)

    Pharma: laxatives, tablets, wound dressings

Bubble solutions: enhances film strength, stretch, and longevity

Cosmetics: gives viscosity to lotions and pastes

Paper/textiles: used as a binder or sizing agent

Substituting CMC for Guar Gum worked! I loved it. I mixed it straight into the Dawn along with JLube Powder.

But that wasn't the end of the perfection and probably won't be as I continue to pray and search for the best bubbles!!!!

I have an amazing bubble friend, scientist named Thomas Altman. One day I watch Thomas mix a very small solution with probably Guar Gum and JLube, or a rendition of it, and he used 99% Isoproply Alcohol to mix them..

I've tried creating a Slurry before with this, but I didn't like it. Mixing the powders right into the Dawn seemed to work good. But Thomas told me how the alcohol perfects the mixture.

Next Time the Bubbles were mixed, via the Slurry, I was absolutely blown away by the bubbles!!!

Something changed when the CMC and JLube were mixed in a Isopropyl solution! I've never seen better bubbles come out of the bubble wand. Bubblopolis is now even better!

The newest bubble formula is just a click away! Sometimes I give away a bottle of a concentration when I meet a family having the time of their lives at our Mega Bubble Playground...so fun to keep the joy going!
