This evening marks the beginning of Simchat Torah here in Israel. [October 13th, 2025]
Two years ago, as this day of joy was celebrated, Israel experienced one of the darkest moments in its history. What followed has been the longest war in our young nation’s history—and one of its most painful and complex realities: the hostages.
Over the days, months, and now years that followed, our prayers—and the prayers of believers like you—have continued to cry out for the safe return of every hostage.
There have been moments of breakthrough along the way, with many hostages released through earlier agreements. But since the spring of this year, there had been no sign of progress—until, miraculously, in these recent weeks, a new deal came together to release all who remained in captivity.
Now, as images and footage pour in, Israel is experiencing a storm of emotion—rejoicing and weeping all at once. Rejoicing for the living hostages returning home to their loved ones. Weeping for those who return to be buried. Heartbreak for survivors of terror who must watch their perpetrators walk free. And a worn nation overwhelmed that such a long and dark chapter is finally, somehow, coming to a close.
For the first time since the war began, Israel and Hamas have reached an agreement that includes the release of hostages and the beginning of a ceasefire.
What the Deal Includes:
1️⃣ Immediate release of 20 living hostages
2️⃣ Gradual withdrawal of Israeli troops to agreed lines
3️⃣ Prisoner exchanges and a six-week initial truce period
